As we grow older, some of our friends and family pass away, and we miss them greatly. Not only do we miss them, but we also lose their companionship.
One of the universal laws of morality, not to eat the limb of a living creature, also implies that it is our responsibility to look after the welfare of animals. So, when one adopts a pet, we are fulfilling this command. The best pet to adopt may be a mature pet. They are often overlooked and may possibly be the next in line to be euthanized. A puppy or kitten can be very cute, but they do require a lot of training.
So why should seniors adopt pets?
• There is scientific evidence to prove that many health benefits come along with pet ownership.
• Saving an animal’s life
• Someone to talk to
If you are missing friends or family and aren’t allergic, go visit your local animal shelter and look into the eyes of pet that may just become your new best friend.
